Zocalo and Puebla’s Cathedral
The magnificent main square, the Zócalo (Plaza de la Constitución), with its tall trees, flower beds and fountains, is lined with arcades (Portales) and forms the busy centre of the town. Puebla City, World Heritage, for its impressive Colonial Historical Centre, is also a great Mexican Capital modern and Cosmopolitan that appeal to visitors with the beauty of its ancient streets. The square is surrounded by stunning colonial buildings and the famous Cathedral, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception.
  • Puebla’s cathedral is a treasure of colonial art. Designed by Francisco Becerra, the first stage of construction took place between 1575 and 1618. The initial plans included four corner towers like the cathedral of Valladolid, Spain. The bases of the towers were built and stand as testimony to the lofty plans. The second phase of construction was under the direction of Bishop Juan de Palafox y Mendoza who consecrated the cathedral on April 18, 1649. The main facade, in the sober mannerist style, is made of dark grey quarrystone and was completed in 1664. This beautiful building is considered the most representative icon of Puebla City. Plenty of artistic treasures that welcome any visitor who wants to go into 300 years of history and art.

Popocatepetl Volcano
Popocatepetl is an active volcano and at 5,426 meters (17,802 feet) is the second highest peak in Mexico.The name Popocatepetl comes from the Aztec word for Smoking Mountain. More than 30 million people live within view of the Mountain. The Church of the ex Convent of Santo Domingo safeguards beautiful treasures like its Baroque Altarpiece. However, the most precious jewel of this place is the Capilla del Rosario that since its opening, on April 16th 1690, has been considered like the “eighth Wonder of the new World”.
